7 ways to start feeling Christmassy

on October 19, 2020

Autumn has arrived which can only mean one thing on the horizon. Christmas! So, if you’re eager to put your tree up or feeling quite the opposite and need a little something to help channel your festive spirit, here at Clintons we’ve gathered a list of things guaranteed to get you in the Christmas mood!

1. Start writing your Christmas cards

There’s nothing quite like the warm fuzzy feeling you get when writing heartfelt messages to your friends and family. Make a list of people you want to send a Christmas card to and start writing! You’ll feel festive and accomplished once you see the stack of envelopes ready to post. It’s extra-lovely when receiving a card on the very 1st day of December so make sure you remember to post yours as soon as possible.

2. Write a list of your favourite traditions and start filling in your calendar

What’s your favourite thing to do during the winter season? Is there a favourite Christmas film you love to watch? Or an annual tradition you love to do with friends or family? Think about what you’d like to do, make sure you buy your tickets to events in advance and you’ll be feeling Christmassy just thinking about your new plans!

3. Winter spice & everything nice

Make your house smell like Christmas! Candles, reed diffusers and potpourri are an excellent yet subtle way to start bringing a little festivity to your home. The earthy, pine fragrances will have your home smelling just like a Christmas tree, and the warm cinnamon & orange scents that resemble your favourite Christmas treats will make you want to curl up with a blanket and a hot drink.

4. Start off with some subtle ornaments

Special touches here and there will help to remind you that December isn’t far away! Little things like decorating your mantel piece and windowsill with photo frames will help you feel nostalgic about heart-warming moments you’ve shared with family and loved ones. It really brings out the true spirit of the Christmas season.

5. Make yourself a little wrapping station / corner

Those gifts aren’t going to wrap themselves! Make sure you get organised and clear a space ready to use to wrap your items carefully. Organise a separate section for present toppers and gift bags, too. This not only minimizes mess but will help you to enjoy the process more.

6. Bake some tasty treats

Go on – treat yourself! Experiment with some new recipes and get creative in the kitchen before the big day. Your friends and colleagues will love trying out your new bakes, and it will keep everyone feeling jolly and festive in time for Christmas.

7. Start your Christmas shopping early

It’s never too early to start browsing for gift ideas! Start writing a gift list of who you need to buy for and head to your local Clintons or begin browsing our online store. Get organised by purchasing stocking fillers first, we have so many to choose from here at Clintons and with plenty of festive inspiration, we’re almost certain you will find the perfect gift for a loved one.
